String Instruments

Department Head – Delia Yaacov

The String Instrument department includes: violin, viola, cello, contrabass and plucked string instruments – guitar and harp.

The department admits students from the age of 5 on. Teaching programs are individually tailored according to each student’s wishes and abilities. Students interested in studying to play only as part of their general enrichment will receive instruction which allows for their technical and musical development. Students with potential to be professional musicians will engage in a more rigorous program which includes higher performance levels, as well as preparation for baccalaureate recitals, America-Israel Cultural Foundation examinations and academic applications. Many of our students are admitted to music academies in Israel, win scholarships and continue to advanced music studies overseas.

Stellar students receive high level professional guidance in ensembles and orchestral performance (There is a young musicians’ orchestra for ages 9-12 as well a chamber music ensemble for ages 13-18). Every year there are departmental concerts for students of all age groups and all levels, and a representative concert performed by the department’s exemplary musicians.
