Chair of the Friends of the Conservatory
I am deeply grateful for the trust, for the honor and for the opportunity to assume the position of Chair of the Friends of the Conservatory.
I assume this role with enthusiasm and I hope also with humility, understanding that this is an important educational, cultural and social undertaking.
I would like to begin with an idea very close to my heart:
Art and music do not help us escape from reality, or cover it up, but let us understand it better. Music teaches us to listen—not only to the sounds, but also to the person in front of us, to the emotion, to the silence, and the profound meaning of life. The Conservatory is not just where you learn to play music. This is where children and youngsters learn discipline, perseverance, sensitivity, self-confidence and how to work together in harmony.
So, investing in music means investing in the education, character, and future of the younger generation,
As a physician, I feel a special connection to this world. Both medicine and music require you to be accurate, attentive and sensitive. And beyond this, music can also help us to recover and sometimes actually to heal. It can sooth, comfort, reduce stress, and open the mind. Hence, I strongly identify with any initiative that seeks to cultivate not only knowledge and achievement, but also to cultivate the Soul — so of course I can relate to the unique programs offered by the Conservatory such as Soul Key.
In my view, there is also a deep moral element here: that of giving.
Kindness and charity are part of both the Jewish and the universal human spirit.
By supporting a conservatory, we are not just sustaining an important institution, we are demonstrating moral responsibility, generosity and belief in the power of education and culture to change lives.
As Chair of the Friends Association, I will do everything in my power to enhance the Conservatory, to expand its sphere of support, and to work together with all those who believe in its value.
If we can continue to foster music and art among our children and youth, not only will we enrich their world, but we will strengthen society as a whole.
Where there is art, there is sensitivity, there is music, there is care, there is education, there is a future.

The construction of the new building was made possible
thanks to the initiative of the Tel Aviv Foundation, with funding
from the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality
and The Ted Arison Family Foundation.
Areas and activities supported by the Friends of the Conservatory.
- Studies scholarships – Every year the Conservatory grants both financial and merit scholarships to students who show will, talent and motivation to study music regardless of their financial state. These scholarships enable equality in the nurturing of excellence.
- The social programs – ‘SOUL Key’, – For people suffering from military related (PTSD) ‘In Tune’, – For children and youth at risk, ‘ ‘Playing on the Spectrum’ – For adults on the spectrum and ‘Music and society Seminars’ in collaboration with Polyphony Education Nazareth’ – For young Jewish and Arab musicians.
- Programs for Excellence – The jazz program in collaboration with the New School in New York, The Perlman Music Program (PMP) – For young string players of special talent and International Festival and Competition for Flutes and Ancient Instruments.
- Supporting representative ensembles – Bat Kol choir ,the Israeli Big Band, etc.
- Master classes and workshops under the guidance of internationally known artists.
- The Chamber Music Center – supporting the concert series and the educational activities of the Center.
- Acquiring musical instruments.
Commemoration Donations
Donation “in memory of” is a remarkable way to bind together your name, or that of your loved one, to the Israel Conservatory’s activities and achievements. If you care about musical education, this donation is a noble way to bind contributing with commemorating.
- Studies scholarships “In the name of” – one can donate a scholarship which will be registered on the name of a person, or in memory of a person, mentioning also the name of the donor.
- An annual studies scholarship for students of the Conservatory/ the jazz program collaboration with The “New School” in New York.
- Sponsoring a concert, master classes, or a particular project dedicated to you and your loved one.
- Commemoration through professional musical instruments – donation or loan (for at least 10 years) of musical instruments. The instruments are to be used in concerts and in specific programs, as well as be loaned to exceptional Conservatory students during their studies. The donor’s name or commemorated person’s name will be marked in a plaque on the instrument, or by writing the name in the relevant programs and publications.
- A chair “in the name of” – a chair in the auditorium in your name or that of your loved one. The donation will be used for the maintenance of the auditorium and for advancing the concerts and musical activities in the auditorium. The donation will be marked by writing the name of the donor/commemorated person on a plaque attached to the chosen chair, for the period of five years.
- Halls and rooms “in the name of” – naming activity rooms, installations and working spaces. The donation will be used for buying equipment and for regular maintenance of the room/ installation.
