The Perlman Music Program 2018

Perlman conducting Program Participants

Founded 24 years ago by Toby Perlman, The Perlman Music Program (PMP) offers unparalleled musical training to young string players of rare and special talent. With the guidance of a world-class faculty led by Itzhak Perlman, PMP is developing the future leaders of classical music within a nurturing and supportive community.

The Perlman Music Program will return to Israel in Passover 2018 for an intensive 2 ½ week residency program serving 36 exceptionally gifted violin, viola, cello, and bass students, ages 12 to 18. The residency, based in Tel Aviv, will run from March 25-April 9, 2018. It marks the eighth PMP residency in the State of Israel.

During this residency at the Tel Aviv Conservatory, 18 former PMP students from across the United States will live and work alongside 18 exceptionally talented string players from across Israel, while immersed in the study and performance of solo, chamber, orchestral, and choral music at the highest level.

Admitted students were selected by Itzhak Perlman (violin), Clara Kim (cello), Carol Rodland (viola) and Rachel Calin (bass) through a rigorous audition process.

Under the dedicated guidance of Toby and Itzhak Perlman, the PMP faculty, which includes some of the most highly sought after pedagogues from around the country, will provide instruction tailored to the specific needs of each student. This residency will be both a transformational learning experience, and a cultural exchange that will enrich students’ lives beyond their study of music. Through their shared musical ideals and goals, these students will establish friendships that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

136 private lessons,18 chamber music coachings, 5 studio classes, 5 WIPs, 3 open master classes, 8 chorus and 8 orchestra rehearsals, 4 sightseeing trips and one gala concert are planned over the 16 days of the residency. Events open to the public include:
